  2. Mon chum me fait le café chaque matin.
  4. Mon application Ovuline me rend de bonne humeur. C’est beau, il y a plein de p’tits messages.
  5. J’ai perdu 0.7 livres cette semaine ! J’ai droit à un pédicure. 🙂
  9. Je me suis rendu compte avec bonheur qu’aller chez l’acupuncteur me coûte 5$ après remboursement !

Positive Monday

  1. My boyfriend has a new job ! Already !
  2. I finally got help from Info Santé.
  3. Warehouse 13 is so fun to watch.
  4. Cranberry extract. It has been helping me for 2 years.
  5. This month’s Clean Eating magazine has so many recipes I want to try.
  6. My geraniums are doing very well.
  7. My orchid is going to be in bloom soon.
  8. We are going to be able to TTC in a few months once J-L is more secure at his new job.
  9. I used a 15lb dumbbell to test my symmetry (from this issue of Oxygen) doing chest presses and I was supposed to stop when I couldn’t do any more. I had to stop at 25 because I was still going on and on.
  10. I was able to use the 15lbs dumbbells for overhead presses ! Never happened before.

Positive thinking Monday

  1. I am alive to blog and tweet.
  2. This is a new year fresh with no mistakes.
  3. I still have a few days before going back to work.
  4. No comments on NOT having kids YET at my in-laws.
  5. I bought massages and manicures and pedicures to use in the coming months. Looking forward to that. 🙂
  6. I slept 12 hours in the night from Saturday to Sunday.
  7. New schedule at the Y starts today.
  8. I found the fat loss special and bought it before the date announced on Oxygen’s web site.
  9. My sister-in-law infused me with new fears about Harper’s politics. No more head in the sand. I already vote but I will follow politics so I can vote against him for a party that will be able to enter. No more green party.
  10. These holidays were a tiny bit more relaxed than usual and I have not been sick.
  11. I just bought 5zumba  classes! I haven’t done zumba in a few months. The Y has not offered classes on a schedule practical to me or with a trainer I like. So I bought 5 classes at Bamboo Fit and am planning to go at Guy-Favreau as well. More cardio, please !

The lowers and the uppers

The title makes me think of when I was bipolar but I’m in fact talking about the program at the gym ! 🙂 I am trying on a three-months program I found in older issues of Oxygen and I’m in the first month where I train the upper and then the lower. I wonder why can’t we just train them both at the same time and save some time ?

In fact, I was thinking about depression yesterday. It seems so far away, so long ago, that I was in a depression. It seems unreal when I think about it now. But it was very real. Difficult, painful. Horrible. Fall is also the time when it creeps back. Well, it used to.

I feel so much better than I used to. I feel so normal. When I become irrational, suspicious, moody it’s because of PMS. So I’m grateful for PMS. Because it’s only PMS. Not a rapidly cycling bipolar event. I’m grateful I survived. I’m grateful I’m feeling better and that tears mean I feel pain or sadness and if I cry it’s going to make me feel better…instead of making me go for a loop. I’m grateful all my energy is there and that when I’m tired I can sleep.

So today I’m going to go to the gym and train the lower, the upper if I have time, and then pilates if I feel like it. Pilates will train the abs so I hope I feel like it. Nothing is better for the abs !

Lundi reconnaissant

  1. C’est lundi et on est en congé

Ça me rend contente.
  10. Je trippe toujours sur mes programmes Oxygen !

Just something I whipped up

I don’t think I have shown this before to my big surprise so I’m showing it today.

It’s the Black bean, corn and avocado pilaf from Oxygen magazine of July 2010. I have made this salad twice and I love it !

  • 1 cup of black beans, rinsed
  • 1 cup wheat berries, cooked
  • 2/3 cup corn kernels (canned, fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup parsley, coarsely chopped
  • 4 scallions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup toasted pine nuts
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 tbsp crushed garlic
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 avocado, peeled, pitted and chopped

You mix the first seven ingredients together in a bowl. In another  bowl, you whisk the rest except the avocado. You poor it over the wheat berry mixture. Then you add the avocado and mix gently. Serve hot or cold.

Instead of wheat berries I used Uncle Ben’s 7 Grain medley rice the two times. I used frozen corn once and canned the other. I have used parsley and cilantro mixed with every fresh herb I had. Instead of pine nuts, I used pistachios the first time. Both times I had great results. But there is too much vinaigrette, I only use a few tablespoons.

Easy and cheap to make.
