February has this in store  :

• The birth of our baby
• A doctor’s appointment tomorrow and I hope the obgyn checks if prelabor has started.
• Seeing my friend tomorrow for a coffee and I am showing her how to change some settings in LinkedIn.
• Seeing another friend for a 4@6 at la Maison du macaron.
• A cleaning service comes on Monday and another will come after the baby is born.
• Going to a restaurant on Valentine’s Day if the baby is not born yet. I will disclose the location after.
• A conference on baby nutrition.

I can say I have been so lucky that I have gone through my pregnancy without much trouble. I am only starting the uncomfortable stretch where it hurts, it feels like being outside my pyjamas is not normal, sleep is full of un-nightmarish nightmares (I wake up all sweaty from a dream that doesn’t feel like it’s a nightmare), I’m tired, I’m impatient, all I want to do is eat.

I started drinking more coffee again. There was a risk of premature birth but now that I’m in 38th week, the risk is not there anymore.

I worry about contractions. I keep wondering if what I’m feeling is a contraction or the baby moving or what. I will know when it happens. But until then…

What I won’t miss :

• snoring
• drooling when I sleep (more than usual)
• stuffy nose
• colds
• not being able to bend at my waist
• people treating me like I’m made of glass
• being so damn  hot all the time
• sweaty feet
• having to pee a million times a day

What I will miss :

• people leaving me their seat in the subway
• all the alone time in the world
• feeling the baby inside me
• having a good excuse for having a big round belly
• luxurious hair
• beautiful nails
• leg hair that doesn’t grow

What I’m looking forward to :

• eating brie
• eating sushi
• drinking 3 cups of coffee a day
• going back to my more intense training
• seeing my bf with the baby
• seeing the baby for the 1st time
• counting toes and fingers
• hearing his voice
• watching him sleep
• long walks with the baby and the daddy

I’m excited to meet him. Last night I did an impression of a dervish dancer on coke or an irish jig dancer or maybe a French-Canadian dancer. It made me want to get him out of my body, the feeling was very weird.

The days are going fast, I have everything to do every day. Today, I have to make Pork Cottage Pie with Parsnip-Potato Mash. It’s a new recipe for me. I see my colleague at 10 for a coffee at the café. My bf works today but when he comes back, we are going grocery shopping.

Yesterday he was late at the gym and I had time to do my complete program, 3 sets of 12 of every exercise. Phew.

When I look at my Outlook calendar, I see lots of colors, days with multiple appointments. Activities that should last 2 hours turn in 4-6 hours outside the house. At this point in my pregnancy, it is very tiring for my body.

Yesterday, I had an activity at the café. J. has opened a second floor ! I went with A. and C. I was planning to stay there maybe an hour. But A. and I arrived before C. and then we chatted and instead of getting home for 5:00…well, I didn’t get home until 8:00. C. and I went at Casa Manolo’s for dinner because I had planned on going with her for a while and last time, it was closed. I had to cut things short, I really wanted to go home. My bladdergina hurts easily.

Today, I am meeting with someone to sell my ice skates. I go to the gym with J-L. I have to return books to the library. I have the washing to do and some reading. It doesn’t seem like much does it. But for me it’s being busy. Probably because I’m tired.

Quand on s’est rencontré, on savait qu’on voulait garder l’autre dans notre vie même s’il ne se passait rien de romantique. Le premier soir, c’était le fun de se parler, de marcher ensemble et il y avait entre nous deux des choses que je cherchais : le respect, la galanterie, l’humour, le gros bon sens…

Quelques jours plus tard, première “date”, j’ai rencontré ses amis. Là, j’ai vu qu’il était respecté de ses amis et qu’ils avaient du fun ensemble. C’est du drôle de monde, mais ils sont tous très gentils. Ça, ça m’a rassurée sur son caractère, sur comment il s’entourait de gens qui ont de l’allure.

Il est venu me reconduire jusque chez moi à pied et on s’est embrassé pour la première fois. Coup de tonnerre ! Nous, on savait déjà qu’on voulait être ensemble. On voulait voir où ça irait. On ne se mettait pas de pression. Le sexe est arrivé quelques jours plus tard (2 adultes consentants, hein…).

Ça a l’air fou. Ça a l’air d’un coup de foudre…mais non. C’était très raisonné, j’étais super prudente. On se voyait peut-être 3-4 jours par semaine. Des fois, on dînait ensemble, des fois on soupait, on sortait.

Quelques semaines plus tard, on se faisait déjà serment. On était une équipe soudée.

Mais, c’est pas toutes les histoires qui sont comme ça. Nous, on savait ce qu’on voulait parce qu’on avait vécu d’autre chose avant. On était au même point dans la vie. On avait décidé qu’on voulait pus d’histoires compliquées, d’ex pourris, de problèmes.

Tous les deux on avait une job, pas de problèmes d’alcool, de jeu, de drogues, etc. Nos ex étaient pus dans le portrait . On était indépendants, on vivait tout seuls depuis un bout, on voulait tous les deux une famille et une vraie vie de couple. Y’était pas question d’être des amis avant de sortir ensemble. On serait restés des amis si ça n’avait pas cliqué romantiquement. Pis après plus qu’un an ensemble, c’était rendu qu’on savait que si on cassait, on ne voulait pas rester amis parce que ça ferait trop mal. On s’aime tellement que voir l’autre avec un nouveau chum ou nouvelle blonde ou le/la voir souvent en amis, ça ferait bien trop mal.

Il correspondait à ce que je cherchais. Mature, confiant, calme, affectueux, etc. Je me sentais bien avec lui. Je me sentais juste bien.

J’ai eu d’autres histoires où ça a commencé plus ou moins vite, mais je ne me sentais pas comme ça. Légère, bien, en sécurité. Avec lui, oui. Et c’était réciproque.

Mais, quand j’étais plus jeune, les histoires de rester amis ça n’a jamais mené nulle part. Quand tu veux quelque chose de sérieux, tu “dates”. Être amis avant c’est du niaisage parce que c’est pas ça le but ni pour toi ni pour lui. Non, tu “dates”. Une bonne règle c’est d’attendre 8 “dates” avant de passer au physique.

En-dedans de huit dates tu finis par voir son vrai caractère, ses défauts, s’il appelle quand il dit qu’il va appeler, s’il paie ton souper ou s’il oublie son portefeuille, s’il conduit prudemment…et il s’il finit éventuellement par se contredire dans ses histoires. Est-ce qu’il respecte que tu veux avoir 8 dates avant de passer à autre chose ? Pas 8 jours en ligne, une date ou deux par semaine. Est-ce qu’il te met de la pression ? Est-ce qu’il boit trop ? Est-ce qu’il regarde juste toi ou les autres filles aussi ?

Mais, être amis avant ça a pas d’allure. L’amitié comme l’amour viennent avec le temps. Avec mon chum, ça a été pareil. On a commencé à se voir et plus ça allait, plus on était amis et plus on s’aimait.

Dis-toi aussi qu’en amour, y’en a pas de garanties. Ça marche ou pas. Il faut prendre des chances. Mais, pas avec le premier qui te donne de l’attention. Filtre ! Filtre !

My friend brought her new coffeemaker and it turns out it is defective, it leaks water. It’s a Kitchen Aid so if you plan to buy one, you may have to bring it back. Anyway, it helped getting coffee to everyone at the same time !

My bf was a star ! His pancakes and potatoes were hugely appreciated and he did 95% of the service. He even cleaned most of the dishes. He says he got tired of people being there rather quickly and I think it’s because most of them were my friends as usual. His friends rarely come to our events. It’s a shame. He would be so happy if they were there. I think we will have to do something where they are invited but not my friends.

I think the brunch was a success.
